The sun has just set as the sky shifts from twilight to dusk. In front of you lies the entrance; you can see the ticket booth, the esteemed clock, and of course, the black and white tents. At any minute now le Cirque des Rêves, the Circus of Dreams, will open for the night.

As you step through the gates, the familiar scent of the circus reaches you. There’s the ever-present smell of caramel—the dark, sweet kind used for dipping apples. Then, carried on a crisp autumn breeze, comes the subtle undertone of smoke from the bonfire. It’s a magical scent for a magical night.
